Yikes!

I did a quick grocery run first thing this morning as I needed lunch fixings for expected company. Also a few items I didn't find on my usual trip to the store earlier this week. This is what I got and the bill.

I did use some PC Points for a $10 reduction so basically the fish fillets were free, but still.......!

  1. What used to be a quick, easy and relative inexpensive way of entertaining is anything but these days. It looks delicious, though.

    1. I have to admit there were two chocolate bars in there!

  2. I close my eyes every time I go shopping as things seem to keep right on going up with no end in sight.

    God bless.

    1. My daughter has three teenagers and I shudder to think what she spends on groceries!

  3. I rarely shop at our grocery store that carries PC products- far too expensive and I don’t want to have to buy two of something to get the savings. I mostly buy at Food Basics ( and my own garden produce). I’ve stopped buying beef altogether! - Jenn

  4. My No Frills often has good deals. I bought ground beef the other day for the first time in months because it was 30% off. I made it into 6 hamburgers for the freezer. No good deals today though!

  6. When you lay out the items with the bill, it is a stark reality isn't it. It's hard to know which grocery store is the better deal, while a few items are on sale here, others are on sale at another. It would be worthwhile for me to shop at multi stores but none in our region are close, so I'd loose out on savings on food, on the gas used. Rock & hard place sound appropriate. I feel for your daughter with three teens - they are still at the hollow leg stage & don't seem to be able to fill (col).

    1. I pretty much stick to the one store as it is close and convenient. Two of the teens are moderate eaters but the other, as you say, has a hollow leg!

  7. We go to a regular store each week as it is the closest one to us. If there are items we use and they are special we stock up on them. I hate to think what the fresh produce will be priced at when Winter comes.
One of my GD's has five children, hate to see their grocery bill.

    1. I think we will have to forgo all the imported fruit and veggies and just live on local stuff. Anyone with kids must be struggling at the moment.

    1. Are you seeing less imported items since Brexit? I think the increase in the cost of gasoline is responsible for a lot of the increases.
