Mother's Day

This arrived at my front door yesterday, courtesy of my son in Victoria, B.C. Then we chatted on the phone and brought each other up-to-date with what's going on in our lives.

I have never seen African Violets in that particular colour before. At first I thought they were artificial, but, no, they are live! The planter will certainly last much longer than the usual bouquet but I already have so many indoor plants, 23 at the last count. Maybe I will donate these new ones to a retirement home when I grow tired of caring for them. Your thoughts?

Some of my indoor plants will go outside once the threat of frost is past but others are just too delicate for our scorching summer sunlight.

  1. If you really want to donate them, do. But I would keep them as I love African violets and your son gave them to you. I wish I had more indoor plants but cats.

  2. What a gorgeous basket of plants. I would keep them, personally. Not the ivy as that's so invasive, but the flowers. xx

    1. It's just knowing where to put them. I know the African violets love lots of light.

    1. That's what I thought. Why not give someone else the pleasure of admiring them.

  5. Such a beautiful gift. I so much prefer this to a bouquet of flowers which wilt so fast in this temp. As it is from your son I would definitely keep it, although if you have lots of other house plants it would be a lovely gesture to donate a few of them to a retirement home. Keep well. Amanda x

    1. Yes, it's a much more practical gift. I will keep it until the other plants go outside then try to find a spot for it.

  6. What a beautiful basket of flowers. The blue of the African Violet is so delicate. What a kind idea to donate to a senior's residence.

    1. I know some seniors who don't have family visits.

  7. Very pretty! Maybe you could keep these and donate something you already have that you have grown tired of tending. My son brought me a pretty little potted flower which will work beautifully outside in an empty spot that hubby had left around our screened porch.
