Yoga

Since I couldn't go to my regular Thursday tennis game (it was wet anyway) I went to Yoga instead. It was a good session but, as Jai, our teacher, reminded us, once a week is really not enough to keep us supple and active. I managed to do a new exercise, full squats down and back up, which several of the class didn't manage. I think I will look for something on You Tube to do in between classes.

The rest of the day went pretty well - it gradually dried off and warmed up as the day progressed. I got quite a bit of gardening (i.e. weeding) done before lunch and again in the afternoon and I managed to catch the itinerant tool sharpener guy as he drove down my street. Now my garden shears are super sharp and polished!

An easy dinner tonight - leftover barbecued chicken drumsticks, just need to heat them up and cook some more veggies! A new "Death in Paradise" on TV tonight on PBS (no commercials) and "Inspector Morse" which I have probably seen before. I also have a DVD from the library as a backup.

And, finally, I managed both the Wordles today, so, all in all, it has been a successful day!

  1. I really enjoy "Yoga with Adriene". She has individual sessions, as well a number of series of daily yoga for a month where you build on a theme. Just Google her to check it out - I know you will find things that you like with her classes. If you do a series, I recommend "Breath". You can do them at your own schedule, daily or not.

    1. One is the New York Times puzzle. There are actually two on Facebook, one is five letters and the other is six. I don't always get the harder one. Different words for each.

  3. It has been wet here as well so my walking and exercise has been done in the house. Not the best way to keep me motivated.

    Yoga is wonderful.

    God bless.

    1. I found a good one on You Tube, "Yoga with Adriane" which Wilma suggested. She has lots for beginners.

  4. There's so much helpful stuff on YouTube, one you start looking. More than once a week sounds pretty good to me. xx

    1. I wouldn't want to do it every day, maybe three times a week.

  5. Good luck finding yoga videos you enjoy, I am sure there are many, many to choose from online. I have discovered that my Pilates once or twice a week is not enough to burn sufficient calories to lose weight, so I'm considering dropping the studio classes (expensive and popular so therefore hard to book) and doing videos at home to maintain my flexibility. Then sign up at the gym during their next special in a week or so in order to burn more calories on a consistent basis. It will be both less driving and less expensive.

  6. I have done many exercise classes, one I really enjoyed was for seniors only, three times a week, however, Covid put an end to that. Has not started up yet as far as I know. It was connected to the University and every now and again, we would be asked if we would be willing to be interested in different studies of one thing or another. We also had a social time once a month, and several movie days. Miss that, so now try and do as much physical work as I can. Burning more calories at this stage of the game is not an easy task.

    1. Yes, it's a challenge - easy to just take the easy route. Hope you get back to your group at the University, it sounds like a good program.
