The Last Barbecue

I'm afraid I am not one of those hardy souls who BBQ all winter, so I had my last BBQ last weekend. Just sausages but they were yummy with a freshly picked corn cob. Yes, I did find the farmer who comes down here with his crop and sells it from the back of his truck.

Can't claim this beautiful display - it's one of my neighbours who definitely has a green thumb.
Another view of my neighbour's front border.

The barbecue sits on the front porch with this lovely planter. It comes indoors when the weather gets chilly.

It's just a table top BBQ and is stored in the garage for the winter
.

It's powered by this propane tank which is just about empty - it's done the whole summer.

  1. Your neighbour does have a beautiful garden. We aren't big on barbecues even in the summer & ours goes in the shed for the winter. Your flower pot beside the barbecue is quite pretty, I like variegated leaves.

    1. I wish I knew what it was called but it has done very well outdoors this summer.

  2. I think our last BBQ will be this coming Saturday when our sons are home for Thanksgiving and then we will cover it. Probably have our last fire in the real firepit as well.

Your neighbour certainly does have a green thumb.

    God bless.

    1. Will you be barbecuing a turkey? My son-in-law is a dab hand at that although one year he set it on fire!

  3. We have never been bothered with BBQs, mainly because of our unpredictable weather but also our previous garden attracted lots of various flying insects some of which sort of spoiled the relaxed atmosphere!

    1. The wasps were a pain here for a while but we usually bring the food indoors to eat.

  4. What a lovely border - we wouldn't have known it wasn't yours if you hadn't said LOL!
I like the idea of the casual meal but I am not a barbeque fan - maybe because we are vegetarian but don't like those meat substitute foods like burgers. I would enjoy the corn though! Both our neighbours have quite all singing all dancing ones but I don't think they have even used them this year which is a shame so I think it is good that you do use yours and enjoy it even if it is not during the winter.x

    1. These were pork sausages but I have tried the plant-based ones for breakfast and in sausage rolls and they were quite good!

  5. We too are at the stage of stretching out summer and enjoying the last of the flowers. The only good thing about winter is the lack of mosquitoes.

    1. We have more of a problem with wasps that with mosquitoes. They are attracted to any type of food which we bring outside so we usually eat indoors after barbecueing.
