Just when I thought things were finally getting done, I woke up to a rather cold house this morning. The temperature was 13C, no wonder I got up in the middle of the night to put an extra layer on the bed!
I got on to the energy company toute suite, and within minutes had an appointment booked for later in the morning. Very efficient! The technician came around 10:00 a.m. and had things sorted quite quickly - it was the thermostat not the furnace which was the problem.
Yesterday's trip to the car dealer went without a hitch although I decided just to wait for the work to be completed instead of bussing home and back. A couple of little repairs needed but not too serious for a 14 yr. old car! I was there for three hours so not much else accomplished.
It has been a miserable day today and I haven't been outdoors at all. But I am thankful for a nice cozy house once more!
Oh, no, that was not a good awakening at all. I'm glad it was easily sorted and ditto for the car too.

I hope that's the last of my problems although I still don't have a working stove.
DeleteNot the best weather to have a boiler breakdown. My gran was very superstitious and used to say breakages always came in threes so if two things happened she went and broke a jam jar to make the third!
ReplyDeleteBetter than in the middle of winter, though. I also believe that things, both good and bad, come in threes!
DeleteYeah to it only being the thermostat - although those things can be quite a nuisance if needing an adjustment. Good news that the car is on the road again - wow 14 years old, you do take good care of it :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't driven much during the lockdown so my mileage is really low.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you got your furnace up and running. We had to replace our thermostat last winter.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It was a fairly quick and painless repair, thank goodness!
DeleteGlad you got your thermostat repaired now as opposed to having it break down in the dead of Winter.
ReplyDeleteMy car is 15 years old, gets me from point A to point B (hope I didn't jinx it, by saying that), like you not much driving has been done this past year. My insurance company gave me a rebate because of that.
Not too far away, my son and DIL live in Aurora.
Hope you have been able to visit son during COVID. My daughter and family live in Markham, not too far for me to visit, but my son and DIL moved to Victoria last year and I really miss him for doing odd jobs around the house for me.
