From the Garden

I picked my first tomato today and had it in a sandwich. Absolutely sublime! It wasn't very big (none so far are looking to be big) but it gave me three slices.

Other than that I have only had some basil and a few raspberries to snack on. The rosemary is looking good and I should get some new potatoes in a week or two as they have all flowered and are now drooping. Still very hot and no rain.

    1. For a bit I didn't think my plants were going to survive in this heat but lots of watering has kept them going.

  3. You just can't beat hat first mouth watering taste of a tomato that you grew yourself, congratulations. Sin ce moving to Derbyshire I've had to confine myself to growing herbs in large pots by the kitchen door. They are thriving up here on the hill and I've had to start giving large bunches to my neighbours just so they don't all go to seed. Bouquet garni anyone?
Happy Monday and have a great week.

    1. I bet the aroma is wonderful. It's been a good summer for basil and rosemary here.

  4. Home grown tomatoes taste so much better than shop bought. We now have our first 4 tomatoes! They are like an explosion of flavour in the mouth.

    1. I have a few more coming and they are ripening fast in this heat.

  5. 😊

We planted ours late, hopefully not too late. The plants are growing fast but no tomatoes yet.

    1. Mine went in late too (garden centres not open until early May) and have struggled in the heat. I'm hoping for a surge in produce once we get into cooler weather.
