Contagion

So strange...... half our dance group didn't come to class last night. I'm not sure why but think it may be fear of contracting the coronavirus. There is quite a lot of hand contact in the dances. This is despite the fact that in this city of over 3 million, there have only been 3 cases of people testing positive for the virus and all are in self-imposed quarantine at home.

Here is one of the more difficult dances we learned last night, not danced by us, obviously.

There was the usual number of Bridge players this afternoon so no fear of cantagion there - a healthy bunch!

  1. That dance does look like a lot of fun, although I just know I'd be bumping into people on my left, on my right. The music is such happy music.

    1. Yes, it certainly gets your feet tapping.

  2. The folk dancing took me back to English country dancing classes at school. The only ones I can remember now are the Gay Gordon’s and Strip the Willow.
Such a shame there were not many people there for your session. I do worry that some communities seem to be over reacting.

    1. That is definitely the case. Several pharmacies here have run out of face masks although we have been told they are not necessary. We did the Gay Gordons last week at a Burns supper.

  3. I feel that if I do happen to contract the virus it should give me immunity for the future. As I don't come into contact with many people during my normal week I am not likely to pass it on (I hope!)

  4. I think the concern is that relatively young people are dying with it but if you don't live in China the chances of contracting it are virtually none.
