One More Job Done

Got the gas technician in the other day to light the pilot light on my gas fire. No idea why it went out but it is tricky to reignite. He had it done very quickly, cleaned up the fireplace and had everything back to normal in no time. I was very pleased and now I am cosy in the family room. Saves heating the whole house in the evenings when I am watching TV. Yippee!

  1. Gas is something that is left to someone who know what they are doing, glad it was done and you are now toasty warm on these chilly nights.

    1. Yes, it is lovely! I wasn't going to tackle it myself, for sure.

  2. We converted our wood burning fireplace to gas this year. The installers gave us a course on how to manage the fireplace under any circumstances including an electrical outage. It's even got a remote control. He who thinks he's in charge loves it, despite humming an hawing over the installation for a better part of a decade. The room is finally usable in the winter.

    1. Mine was converted from a wood burning fireplace many years ago and I am very happy with it. No messy ash and cinders!

  3. 50 and counting, I'm curious how much that cost. We've always had wood but we're getting older and I think we need to go to gas. Was it a comple swap out for the wood stove. thanks ,christina

    1. It wasn't very complicated or expensive. Definitely worth investigating.

    2. Depends on what model you pick. Ours came in at around $6400. That included running the gas line (we had a lot of concrete foundations to deal with), the permit and inspection. The City Inspector was really happy with the work and told the husband it was one of the best install of a line he'd seen in a while. It was done in one day. We used the same company as one of the people on our street. They were wonderful and let the husband have a look at their completed fireplace.

  4. Well done. It is important to have an effective heater at our age - well, any age really. :-) xx

    1. The room is heated by the sun on sunny days but can be chilly on dull days.

  5. Yeah to a quick & easy fix of your gas fireplace. Nothing like that cozy feeling of a winter fireplace on.

  6. Harvey worked in the oil patch and is now a pro at lighting the furnace or water heater. Thank heavens as Sask Energy takes their own sweet time at getting anything done.

    God bless.
