End of a Season

Notwithstanding that Thursday is the first day of Fall, I have my own way of noting the end of summer. It all happened this week.

The beach towels were washed and put away until next year.

I had my last dip yesterday, the water was chilly but still refreshing after a long hike.

Today the winter cover went on so that's it until Victoria Day next year!

  1. Our seasons are dictated by months. The first of September, December, March and June. Which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever as early Autumn is usually stinking hot and early Spring is bloody cold. Do you know how/why your seasons are chosen? Cos Mother Nature obviously listens to us mighty humans.

    1. The dates of our seasons are not written in stone, more a matter of what Mother Nature throws at us. I think Winter starts on the winter solstice and summer likewise, but fall and spring seem pretty arbitrary.

  2. Oh, that's rather sad, isn't it? But something lovely to look forward to as the seasons roll on and the days will get warmer and lighter again. xx

    1. The only good outcome is that my electricity and water bills will be less!

  3. Pretty leaves in your header. Glad you got that final dip in. My rituals for the start of Autumn involve emptying the pots of annual for yard waste pick up.

    1. I have been doing that too. I try to fill a bucket with weeds every day! We only have yard waste picked up every other week.

  5. Thanks, the leaves are just beginning to fall although the trees lost a lot earlier due to drought conditions.
