My big task today was to go to the hardware store which has just been allowed to have customers inside. Previously it was just curbside pickup. I needed some gardening supplies and was able to get everything I wanted - in and out in ten minutes, wearing my mask.
So now I can get started on weeding, feeding and seeding the lawn, clipping bushes and generally tidying up the property. It has finally warmed up and I was out with just a sweater today. I didn't buy any plants or veggies yet as we may still get frost but the garden centres are also opening this week. Now we just need to be allowed to get back on the tennis courts. I am really missing tennis and my friends at the club.
I also went to the bulk food store and, although I had to wait to get in for a few minutes, that also went smoothly. They have an assistant do the bagging for you to cut down on contamination which I think is a good idea.
P.S. I got yeast today!!
Our garden centres are open from today - we just need some warmer weather now.
ReplyDeleteThey will probably be massively crowded - that's another reason why I avoided ours.
DeleteI hope everyone's safe and staying safe. I just read that the virus is mutating and getting much more dangerous. I don't want to alarm anyone but it's time to get right with God, cause this is getting downright scary! Stay home and stay safe, guys!

DeleteI'm avoiding the garden centres until the current rush has dies down, I think. There's nothing I need; I can manage with what I have got at the moment, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteYay for getting yeast!
xx
I'm going to make a loaf tomorrow. I haven't anything in the ground yet so need to make it to the garden centre really soon. We don't usually plant anything sensitive to frost before the Victoria Day weekend.
DeleteOur local hardware store us also now open, but they have a lot if empty shelves 🙄
ReplyDeleteNo problem with mine. They obviously had stocked up in anticipation of being allowed to reopen.
DeleteThat is good that it is taking you short amount of time in the stores. We are stick using the click & collect curbside pick up methods for most everything. I'm not ready to rush back to anything - this second wave of the virus is going to hit us hard. Yeah to yeast.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sure it's coming. I plan to keep my distance and wear my mask for some time still.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get yeast. I had bought some before it got so scarce so I am still okay.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that your hardware store had the gardening things you needed to get the tasks done you've been wanting to do.
I don't usually plant yet either - the end of May here in New England in the US so I haven't tried to get any plants yet.
I'm holding off as long as I can to go to the garden center. Hoping the initial rush will die down.
