.....the saga of my stove, that is. The oven is still not working but another new (expensive) part has been ordered. At least this time I was not charged for labour and I can still use the stove top and the broiler.
My major worry is that the part will take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive and that will be almost Christmas - I am supposed to be cooking the Christmas meal this year. Then another week to get the technician here to install it. I have forewarned my daughter that she may have to pitch in with her oven or even take over the whole meal. It will be the first time since 1970 that I won't be cooking the Christmas feast. I will, however, be able to steam the plum pudding which grandkids were rather worried about.
Tuesday's tennis was another chilly experience but we are determined to keep playing until they lock up the courts. Just praying there will be no snow before then!
I have an electric roaster that I love. It makes a mean turkey or ham....I bought it when I was cooking for 30 people and am so glad that I did.
ReplyDeleteI hope the snow holds off for you until they close the courts.
God bless.
The roaster sounds like it might be worth exploring - thanks for the tip. No snow yet but bitterly cold today. We didn't play.
DeleteDo you have a little toaster oven? I know that won't help with a turkey, but those little toaster ovens are pretty good in a pinch. We had an ongoing saga with a dishwasher a few years back. Turns out, after a few visits, that it was a part that hadn't been installed correctly from the first guy who came. If I've learned one thing in this world, it's to actually pay for the extended warranty on appliances. They are, I believe, designed to break down after most warranties are up. We had much snow today. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteAppliances just don't seem to last as long any more. Too many sophisticated parts! I do use my toaster oven often and also my crock pot and rice cooker. I baked cookies last night by heating the oven with the broiler!
DeleteI have a convection microwave oven as my gas stove has never worked. It is great for roasting chicken but not sure that a bigger bird would fit inside!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of a convection microwave but it sounds useful. I only use my microwave for heating up my coffee although I tried scrambled eggs the other day. It was "OK"!
DeleteWell that's a bother you can live without. All this shortage of parts & things I wonder if a plot to get us to pay more ... fingers crossed that the part arrives & is installed well before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteCheers to your keeping with tennis ... we had snow yesterday which was like the warning shot... winter is coming.
Two of us were busy today so we didn't play, for which I am truly grateful as it was barely above freezing.
DeleteHope you get the oven fixed in time for Christmas, I would be lost it mine broke down.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow yesterday, it was gone by noon.
Good for you for keeping up your tennis even though it is chilly.
I am just thankful I can use the stove top and the broiler. I baked this afternoon by heating the oven with the broiler then popped in the sweet treat. It worked out fine - everyone needs a sweet treat now and then!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, wonderful work, it's beautiful so much and good idea on site.

Grr! That must be really annoying! I do hope they get it sorted for you in time for Christmas cooking. Pretty cold here now but not cold enough for snow. Keep well. Amanda x
