Another scorcher today (over 30C) and two dips in the pool, the first after two very hot hours on the tennis courts. We started at 8:00 and almost made it until 10:00 but I was really dragging by the end. It's amazing how a quick dip in the pool brings your body temperature down.
Another dip this afternoon after some pruning and trimming of bushes. Everything is becoming very overgrown. My other Wigelia is now blooming but the peonies have not produced any flowers at all. I think they will have to be replaced next year.
Sometimes it is hard to believe that it wasn't that long ago that the ground was covered with snow. A shame about the peonies - are they quite old plants?ReplyDelete
They predate my living here (20+ years) and last year one didn't bloom at all so their time is probably up!Delete
Oh dear that your peony plants are sulking. I have one that is the "mother" plant & she's been sulking for at least 3 years, but I do continue to give her ampler fertilizer in hopes of a come back. Her daughter plant has never looked back. Your Weigela is quite pretty, I bet the Hummers love this shrub with the tubular flowers.ReplyDelete
Haven't seen any nearby but that would be nice to see!ReplyDelete
Sorry that your peonies are not producing.ReplyDelete
Yes, I will probably replace them next year.Delete
Your Wigelia is lovely! It is starting to get warm here too...28C today. I do hope they open the pool here in the Apartments complex soon. I need a daily dip and swim when the heat gets oppressive. Last year it didnt open until mid July due to the restrictions! I really hope it will be this month. keep well Amanda xReplyDelete
