Preparing for Easter

Two crusty French loaves baked for Easter lunch on Sunday - if I can resist taking a slice or two (just to check they are good, don't ya know).

Today I went out early on a hunt for a nice leg of lamb, reasonably priced, and lucked out at the last store I tried, then had to go out again for garlic and Mint Sauce! Also hit the liquor store to stock up as I had cut out alcohol for Lent. I will have a big glass of red on Sunday to celebrate a month of abstinence. Ditto with chocolate so I hope the grandkids bring me some.

Lamb is our tradition for Easter Sunday and nothing will prevent us from indulging, not even another lockdown. Praying that the family stay healthy until then - one school had a case of COVID but it remains open so caught in time, thank goodness!

In case you are wondering, I had no side effects from my shot last weekend - just a stiff arm for a couple of days.

  1. Glad you had no reactions. Harvey said his arm is a bit sore, but other than that things are just fine.

    God bless.

  3. Good to hear you had no side effects from the first Covid jab. The majority of the people I am in contact with have said practically the same. My sister in the UK who had the Astrozenca vaccine had no side effects at all not even arm ache, mind you she is a very hardy gal LOL! Roast Lamb sounds delicious in fact I just might go for that too. There are lots of delicious Goodies on display for Easter in the bakeries such a shame I have to continue with a bland diet. Ah well Easter is back every year so grin and bear LOL! Have a good Easter and have fun with your family :-) Amanda x

  4. Your plans for Easter sound good, I think this lockdown does allow you to be with one other family if you live alone, so it's all good. Your crusty loaves look so tempting; one for sure would be taste tested in this house! (col). Happy Easter.

    1. Yes, I did try it and it was just right. The bread machine makes it so easy to turn out a half decent loaf.

  6. Lamb and chocolate, oh boy!
I am glad that you had no side effects from your first jab. Most of my friends who have had the AstraZeneca say that they experienced nothing at all, although others who had the Pfizer felt a little off colour for a couple of days.
Happy Easter to you and your family x

  7. Happy Easter to you. I've never roasted lamb (or prepared it any other way). It's so costly, I'd be afraid to mess it up! That bread looks absolutely wonderful! Enjoy your wine and chocolate! -Jenn
