Winter Not Gone Yet

Although we have had a couple of days with sun and above freezing temperatures, the snowbanks are so high I can barely heft a shovelful of snow over the top! Just praying we don't get another snowfall any time soon.

However, the icy patches have more or less melted so taking a walk is not quite as hazardous as it was a few days ago.

I kept busy today by making a batch of shortbread cookies which, unfortunately, I will now have to eat. Boredom leads to naughty things! I will keep them in the freezer which will make them slightly less tempting and easy to pop in my mouth.

I heard today that my age cohort will be allowed to book a vaccine in the last week of April but sounds as if the booking system has yet to be created so, once again, not holding my breath!

  1. My husband got a text that he could book a vaccine. But by the time I got online, all slots were taken. Which is absurd, since it's supposed to be enough slots for each cohort called. I wonder how many slots there were, if they were filled up within 3 minutes.

    1. I guess they still have to iron out a few kinks. I'm sure it will be the same when my turn comes. Keep trying!

  2. We are snowed in here at our Ottawa Valley home! My cohort is apparently going to be offered in June. My daughter got her first today in T.O. She is a front line essential worker. I dont know who is more relieved, her or mom.

    1. I'm hoping my daughter (Kdgn teacher) gets a call soon. I think they are to be included with the 80's and up group. I don't mind waiting as I will just continue to stay home as much as possible.

  4. My age cohort has just been shuffled down the queue as the ferry and airline crews have now been prioritised, along with adults with learning disabilities. I will now have to wait until August/September.

    1. That is a long wait! Things may move faster more vaccines become available. At least that's what I am hoping.

  5. IMO, Gen. (Re'td) Hillier gave an excellent press conference yesterday with lots of details & general info about the vaccine roll out. In our region, our health unit has its own online booking, which will merge with the provincial one on March 15th. I made sure to help the over 85's in our church get online & booked, 3 of them got their first shot yesterday. I agree too much snow to make tossing in on the pile difficult. Yeah to less ice for walking. Oh shortbread would not last long in this house.

    1. Good your region is able to go ahead and start the 80's. That makes a lot of sense. I did wonder about senior Senior's being able to access online booking. The phone lines were probably jammed.

  6. We have been told we will be contacted when it is our turn to have the vaccine. However, going by the news reports about the delay from the pharmaceutical company concerned they are holding back supplies that the European Union had ordered and already paid for! Hence the whole vaccination program is rather slow in several European countries such as Spain,Italy and France. We don't think we will get ours until May or June. Hope your vaccine shot will be forthcoming soon. keep well Amanda x

  8. Not for another six weeks, unless things move faster than expected.

  9. When I was in for my operation this week I had to undergo a test for the virus. I was clear which made me extremely happy. Knowing that I am doing something right makes waiting for my shot that much easier.

Hopefully spring gets here very soon, though we had snow again today.

    God bless.
