Chocolate Overload

Out early for a slippery drive to the grocery store. We had several inches of snow overnight and I really should have stayed home until it had been cleared. However, a chocolate bar given out by the cashier at the store made it worth the effort - a customer appreciation gift. The store was surprisingly busy considering the driving conditions but I guess, like me, people were out of essentials after the long weekend. Trying valiantly to work through all the chocolate I have received this week.

On returning home I got stuck on the slight slope of my driveway but dug my way out eventually. My neighbour's son came over to help and we got the driveway cleared by lunch time. Just as we finished the plough came by and left a considerable windrow across the end of my driveway, so more digging! I sincerely hope that is the last dig-out I have to do this year. We have got off pretty easily this winter, all told.

  1. Yes all told I know that we here in Saskatchewan have gotten off very easily as to snow. Now as to cold, an entirely different story.

Today I am heading out to do my shopping and a couple of other errands.

    God bless.

    1. We got another big dump yesterday but, hopefully, that's it for this winter. I haven't had to use my snowblower yet.

  2. I'm glad you had a safe trip out and wasn't that lovey of your neighbour's son to help you. I'd forgotten how frustrating it was to have snow ploughed across a freshly cleared drive. X

  4. Oh I can't eat chocolate, for health issues. -sigh-

Lucky you had some help with the snow... Ahhh yes, the street plows, fill back in. And if one leaves it there, it becomes hard as ice.

The young many who plows our driveway, usually comes, after the street plows have done their work. So he get the whole thing, taken care of.

But with all our present ice, the drive way is still icy for walking. Can't be helped. So, we do not walk on it. -smile-

  5. Yes, ice was a problem here too a couple of weeks ago. Now the snow has covered the ice and makes it doubly treacherous!

  6. Oh a chocolate bar from the cashier, what a lovely surprise. I am thinking I may venture into a grocery store soon. Mr Man was out blowing out the end of neighbours driveways after the snow plough piled it deep & high.

    1. Yes, it was a very unexpected treat! Glad Mr. Man has been out doing his civic duty by helping the neighbour.

  7. We are blessed with neighbors who have the equipment to plow, so we are doing fine. In fact, they were considerate enough not to leave snow dumped across the edge of our driveway when they first plowed the lane. They later came back and did our drive as well in turn. We are continuing to get another inch or so, but hubby can keep up with that much. I think the heavy snow and the week of bitter temperatures will help with the bugs this summer. Last winter was so mild and so our summer was very pesty!! I have not needed to get out to the grocery yet, think I can stretch it to the weekend when we will be above freezing. My pantry and freezer are both roomier than they have been for quite a while, though. Chocolate does sound like the appropriate reward for braving the hazards.

    1. Can't beat chocolate for raising the spirits (unless it's a glass of wine). I didn't realize the colder temps. killed off the bugs. Hope that works this year!

  8. A chocolate reward after dealing with snow - a perfect recipe for success. We got more snow yesterday & it is starting off today (Friday) with more. Looks like chocolate will need to be on our shopping list. Happy weekend.

  9. Thanks, MaryLou. Not so much snow here overnight but it has been coming down all day and I will be digging out tomorrow again!
