Nothing much has changed in the last week. My pool heater isn't working again - the guys are coming tomorrow to fix it, hopefully - but it is still hot here so the water is reasonably warm and I am swimming every day.
Regarding one of the books I wrote about last week, The Bookseller of Florence, it is a non-fiction and extremely well researched and well written. However it is a heavy read (both physically and mentally), more like a text book than my usually reading fare. I have been to Florence so that aspect of it is interesting. I am plugging away at it - it's fascinating how much is known about people and events in 14th century Italy - but it is definitely not a light summer read!
That's it for this week.
Glad the water is still warm enough to swim in. I hope the problem is repaired quickly.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Well, the repair guys didn't come today as promised so I will have to wait until next week. It's set to stay warm at least.
DeleteWhat a nuisance. Thank goodness the water is nice and warm anyway. It must be lovely to have a swim each day.

I have started doing lengths as it is too hot for a daily walk.
DeleteI can only imagine in this heat & humidity a cooling pool swim would be in order (col). Sounds like your Florence book might be a book to settle in with as the Autumn arrives.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly adding to my depth of knowledge of that time and place.
DeleteIsn't it wonderful during this hot weather to be able to sit under the A/C and enjoy good books. Now, yours I am not so sure about. hehe. But, I love stories (fiction and non) from places in europe.
ReplyDeleteMe too! Bur I have had enough of WWII books. There seem to have been an abundance of these recently.
DeleteCool swims sound perfect during these hot days many of us are experiencing! I would gladly soak in the pool all day but there are chores tch! I have been rereading some old fantasy novels. Fantasy and sci-fiction genre are musts when I want to slip away to other dimensions LOL! keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteAt least your water is warm enough to swim in. We've visited the pool this afternoon. I think it might be the last time this summer. X
