Chinese New Year

Tomorrow is actually Chinese New Year but I celebrated today by making dumplings and fritters, Chinese style. I used leftover vegetables and meat from last night's dinner and wrapped small spoonfulls in Wonton wrappers. They are in the fridge chilling at the moment and I will fry them up soon to serve with pickled ginger and soy or plum sauce. It should be tasty.

It's milder at the moment but rather dull and dreary. Good news is that I received an email from the tennis club saying Early Bird registration starts in March so I can start to look forward to getting out on the tennis courts. The club doesn't actually open until May 1st. but at least it's something to anticipate. Can't wait!

  1. I celebrated the Chinese New Year on Saturday at the Mandarin, always like Chinese food. The food in China is entirely different than what is offered here in Chinese restaurants.

  3. I bet your dumplings were really good. I do enjoy them. How many did you make? Any for the freezer?
Big bad snowstorm coming into us Sunday night through Monday in New England on the east coast of the US. Really dreading it.

    1. I made about a dozen but ate them all! They were good. Hope you survive the storm, just hunker down and wait it out. Our latest storm saw about 6 inches of snow so wasn't too bad.

  4. Dumplings! How delightful. I haven't had those in years. I think I'll find some and indulge as well, thanks for the idea. I did recently celebrate the new year with a cabinet painting, so that's been giving me lots of happiness during this cold winter. Thanks for sharing, Chris. I enjoyed reading.
